What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. Pilates is named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920’s.

What is a Pilates Reformer?
A Pilates reformer is a specialized exercise apparatus used in Pilates exercises. It consists of a rectangular frame with a sliding carriage, adjustable springs, ropes, and pulleys.
The reformer provides resistance through the springs, allowing for a wide range of Pilates exercises that target and strengthen muscles throughout the body. The carriage slides back and forth as the exerciser performs movements, engaging core muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing body alignment.
Some of the benefits are core strengthening, Improved posture and alignment, Increased flexibility, Muscle toning and definition, and Low-impact exercise suitable for various fitness levels.
Is there a membership fee?
No, there is never a membership fee at Geneva Lakes Pilates.
How long is a session?
All classes are 55 minutes and designed as a total body workout, and no two sessions are ever the same.

What to bring to class?
Please bring your own towel and water bottle. Wear workout apparel that you are comfortable in. We strongly recommend grip socks for better traction on the equipment. Grip socks are available at the studio for purchase. We also recommend that women wear their hair up and men wear biker shorts underneath any baggie shorts.
I’ve never done Pilates before. Can I join a group?
Most new participants have never done Pilates before. As long as you have no injuries, have had recent surgery, or are pregnant you can join any reformer group class. Your instructor will modify all movements to compliment how your body is moving. We do offer intro to Pilates Reformer classes based on demand, please contact us for more information.

Studio Policies
Cancellation policy - All classes have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy or you lose a class credit, as we are a small business. Everyone must sign a waiver before taking class (online or in-person). All classes and sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking.
If you do not show up for class you will lose the full price of the class.
